There's no shortage of Sport in Brisbane. Here we have Rugby League, Rugby Union, Australian Rules Football, Soccer (that's with the round ball!) and cricket. Here's a quick guide to the major football codes and cricket.
Rugby League
Probably the most popular sporting code in Brisbane is the Rugby League, administered locally by the QRL. There are two State teams, the North Queensland Cowboys which are based in Townsville and the Brisbane Broncos. Home games are played at Suncorp Stadium.
Cricket
Sponsored by the local brewery, The Queensland Bulls are the State's top Cricket team. Their home ground is the infamous Gabba at Woolloongabba. Over 2006/07, Australia hosts the 3 mobile Ashes Test Series, with games held at the Gabba in November 2006 and early 2007. In the 2005/2006 season which ended on March 28, the Bulls were victorious over the Victorian Bushrangers in the Pura Cup to secure their sixth domestic first class cricket title.
Soccer
Queensland Roar FC is Queensland's only team in the new fully professional Hyundai A-League. Home matches are played at Suncorp Stadium.
Rugby Union
The Queensland Reds is the top team of Queensland Rugby Union organisation and plays against other States in Super 14 competition. When playing at home the Reds play at Suncorp Stadium.
Australian Rules Football
