Whatever your mood, each precinct has a different atmosphere. If you want to join the after-work crowds, stick close to the bars in the CBD.
If you're looking to chill-out, head for the bars and lounges of West
End or New Farm. The Valley has a mix of hard-core nightclubs and more
cosy, hidden retreats. A stroll down Caxton Street in Paddington will
take you to a choice of watering holes. And don't forget the suburbs of
Brisbane which are full of "traditional" pubs - with beers on tap,
cheap and simple counter meals and a mix of all ages.
The city, being the central point for much of Brisbane's tourist
accommodation, is the ideal meeting point for travellers. Here you'll
find some of the more up-market hot spots, where you can sit, relax and
enjoy conversation, a meal at a restaurant , intimate drinks and first class entertainment.
Alternatively, if you're interested in somewhere you can dance and
party the night away, the city is also home to many clubs including
Mercury Nightclub and Vibe. Level 5 at the Hilton, Fridays Riverside,
The Port Office Hotel and the Adrenalin Sports Bar are popular spots
with the younger crowd.
Fortitude Valley, or 'the Valley' as it's known, boasts a
different atmosphere from the city. The Valley has made a name for
itself with locals and visitors alike and continues to be at the
forefront of alternative and emerging fashion, music and entertainment.
Walk into any main street in the Valley and you're sure to find a
selection of trendy locations for drinks, dance or food. Try James,
Brunswick, or Ann Streets for a choice of Brisbane restaurants , cafes and bars. There are dozens of venues on offer, each
with their own style and atmosphere. Some compare the Valley to
Sydney's Oxford Street for nightlife. Take your pick of designer
nightclubs. be sure not to miss Family Nightclub, recently awarded
Australia's best nightclub. The Valley is also at Brisbane's forefront
in live music experiences.
Away from the central city area are South Bank with its many bars and
eateries and Little Stanley Street. Similarly, New Farm has a plethora
of drinking options.
