Brisbane Shires
Brisbane's surrounding shires and surrounding cities are inlcuded in the Greater Brisbane Area. They include Caboulture, Ipswich, Logan, Pine Rivers, Redcliffe and Redland shire. Here you'll find a brief overview of Brisbane's shires and surrounding cities.

The Caboolture Shire

Caboulture Shire is nestled between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. In the Caboolture Shire Herald area there is a blend of rural suburbs and affordable housing as well as more prestigious suburbs. The Caboolture Shire area is the traditional home of the Kabi Aboriginal people who gave the area the name, "Caboolture" which means the, "Place of the Carpet Snake." The major local shopping centres providing for the ever-growing population are the Caboolture Park Shopping Centre, Morayfield Shopping Centre, Bribie Island Shopping Centre and Burpengary Plaza.

The areas covered by the Caboolture Shire include: Caboolture, Bellmere, Woodford, Banksia Beach, Bellara, Bongaree, Woorim, Godwin Beach, Ningi, Sandstone Point, Beachmere, Morayfield, Burpengary, Narangba, Deception Bay, Brisibe Island, Wamuran, D'Aguilar, Meldale, Toorbul and Donnybrook.

The Logan Shire

Logan Shire is located midway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast and its population is growing steadily. With its easy access to Brisbane's CBD through the M1 and the South-East Freeway, the area is an ideal location for both residents and businesses alike. The area is also a popular choice for first home buyers and young families, with pockets of upmarket residential estates and acreages.

The major employers in the area are industrial businesses. Major shopping centres include the Logan Hyperdome and Logan Central with other shopping localities in Springwood, Loganholme, Beenleigh, Woodridge and Marsden.

The areas covered by the Logan shire include: Springwood, Loganholme, Daisy Hill, Meadowbrook, Mt Warren Park, Slacks Creek, Underwood, Cornubia, Kingston, Edens Landing, Shailer Park, Bethania, Woodridge, Tanah Merah, Marsden, Beenleigh, Rochedale South, Loganlea, Crestmead, Waterford West, Holmview, Ormeau, Windaroo and Eagleby. The rural areas covered are: Bahrs Scrub, Wolfdene, Yatala, Luscombe, Stapylton, Jacobs Well, Pimpama, Alberton, Gilberton, Norwell, and Coomera.

The Pine Rivers Shire

Pine Rivers Shire enjoys a blend of urban and rural living. Many new housing estates are being developed in the area, which is predominately populated by young families and first home buyers. The major residential areas are Strathpine, Kallangur, Petrie, Lawnton and Dayboro. Brendale and Lawnton areas provide a mixture of light and heavy industrial estates, whereas there are many retail outlets at Strathpine and Kallangur. The major local shopping centres within the area are the Westfield Strathpine, Kensington Village, Woolworths Market Place, Tulip Town and Brendale Shopping Centre.

The areas covered by Pine Rivers Shire include: Mango Hill, Kallangur, Murrumba Downs, Petrie, Lawnton, Bray Park, Warner, Strathpine, Bald Hills, Brendale, Kurwongbah and Dakabin. The newspaper is also delivered to the following rural areas: Griffin, Joyner, Cashmere, Whiteside and Clear Mountain.

The City of Redcliffe

Redcliffe City is home to approximately 50,000 people situated on a true peninsula. Redcliffe is linked to Brisbane by one of the longest bridges in the Southern Hemisphere, which is called the Houghton Highway. For those who have chosen Redcliffe as their home, the lifestyle is relaxed with a distinct focus on leisure and recreation. Fishing and prawning are the principal primary industries, with mostly light industries located at Clontarf and Kippa-Ring. Tourism is also an important industry to the area with approximately 500,000 tourists visiting each year. The major shopping centres in the area are Peninsula Fair, Redcliffe City Heart, Kippa-Ring Village and Margate Shopping Centres. Most large national retailers have outlets in Redcliffe.

Suburbs of Redcliffe included: Scarborough, Kippa-Ring, Redcliffe, Margate, Clontarf, Woody Point, and Rothwell.The City of Redcliffe is home to approximately 50,000 people and is located 35 minutes north of Queensland's capital city, Brisbane (Queensland is a state of Australia). The city contains the suburbs of Redcliffe, Clontarf, Scarborough, Woody Point, Rothwell, Kippa-Ring and Margate.

Redland Shire

Redland Shire is part of the booming area of south east Queensland, nestled along the coastline of Moreton Bay. Covering an area of 539 square kilometres, the Redlands includes the sub-tropical islands of North Stradbroke, Peel, Karragarra, Lamb, Russell, Macleay and Coochiemudlo, and boasts more than 50 kilometres of coastline. Redland Shire is just 35-40 minutes by road from Brisbane City, the International Airport and the Port of Brisbane.

The Gateway Arterial Road forms the western boundary to the area and provides easy access to and from the north and south coasts. Wynnum and Manly are two of Brisbane's most beautiful suburbs with a vast history and are a gateway to Moreton Bay. Manly boasts Brisbane's best marina facilities and Brisbane's only sandy beaches, together with a large number of recreational areas and entertainment facilities. There are approximately 5km of foreshore parklands and you can ride or walk from Elanora Park in Wynnum to Fig Tree Pocket in Lota. The major shopping centres include Capalaba Park, Capalaba Central, Wynnum Plaza, Bayside Shopping Centre, Manly Harbour Village and Wynnum Central, all catering to local needs with most retailers operating in these centres.

Suburbs include: Wynnum, Manly, Lota, Wynnum West, Manly West, Tingalpa, Belmont, Hemmant, Wakerley and Capalaba. The paper is also distrubuted to the following rural areas: Gumdale, Ransome, Capalaba West and Chandler.

Ipswich City Queensland

Ipswich Queensland is located in south-east Queensland at the joining of the Brisbane, Lockyer and Fassifern Valleys. It is centrally positioned as part of a national road network - 40 minutes drive from Brisbane, an hour's drive from the Gold Coast and 45 minutes drive from domestic and international air and sea ports. Ipswich comprises an area of 1207 square kms and has a population of 140 000 people. Residents come from 115 different ethnic backgrounds, speaking 84 languages. Ipswich offers all the modern facilities and attractions of a progressive city.

Australian Snakes
