Also, 14 of the Gold Coast beaches are patrolled with 25 full time lifeguards making the Gold Coast the ideal safe location for a beach holiday.

Shopping on the Gold Coast
Hours for shopping on the Gold Coast are vary greatly. Most shops are open between 9.00am and 5.30pm on weekdays. There is Thursday night shopping until 9.00pm in the large centres. On Saturdays most shops are open between 9.00am and 12.00noon. However the major centres usually stay open until 5.00pm. On Sundays some major shopping centres such as Pacific Fair are open from 10.00am until 4.00pm. Read on for a directory listing of shopping centres on the Gold Coast.

Australian Paralysis Tick
The Australian paralysis tick (Ixodes holocyus) is roughly confined to a 20-kilometre band that follows the eastern coastline of Australia. As this is where much of the human population resides, encounters with these parasites are relatively common. Although most cases of tick bite are uneventful, some can result in muscle weakness, blurred vision, drowsiness, paralysis and even death by burying itself in a person's skin and injecting a neurotoxin.
