Grass Roots Music Festival
2007 sees the third annual Grass Roots Music Festival, to be held in the bandstand at Mount Coot-tha's Botanical Gardens . The festival will be held from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm on Sunday, 30 September, 2007 and features a selection of Queensland's finest original roots music, spanning influences including contemporary roots, blues, folk, country, world music, and acoustic rock.

"The Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens are one of Brisbane's best-kept secrets," comments event organiser 8 Ball Aitken. "Walking through the different pockets of beauty is like stepping into another world -- with an Aussie roots music soundtrack. That is heaven on Earth to me. And early Spring is sublime; I believe that Brisbane in September has got world-class weather."

Performers featured on the day include local artists 8 Ball Aitken & His Band, Juzzie Smith, Rich Man's Hoax, Sarah McMonagle, Jaxonville, Gemma Doyle, Eritrean Women's Cultural Group, Tongues of Fire and the Reversals.

8 Ball Aitken, a young roots artist himself, has pioneered a uniquely 'Queensland sound' and is keen to highlight local talent at the event.

The Grass Roots Music Festival '07 is an all-ages, drug and alcohol-free event, which is suitable for all ages. Best of all, it's FREE... so bring your picnic rug, and enjoy the gardens to the tunes of this years Brisbane Grass Roots Music Festival.

This contentious issue was put to a vote once and many people in Queensland's conservative regional areas to the West, North and Far North of South East Queensland elected not to keep in time with the southern States.
