22 November - 29 November 2008. The Gold Coast has hosted high school graduation celebrations for
Australian high school leavers over the past thirty years. Schoolies is
a week long party which all started for Queensland high school
graduates. Schoolies has grown to the point where it now attracts
teenagers from all around Australia.

celebration where people all around the country join together to celebrate
what's wonderful about Australia and being Australian. In Queensland Australia Day will be celebrated with a full program
of events, activities and entertainment that will take place in
Brisbane and across the State.
Queensland 's second ever Australia Day Festival at South Bank will be held on 26 January. The festival will have something for everyone, with the Australia Day Concert, Australia Day Fireworks and a variety of family activities and entertainment.

New Annual Brisbane
Festival - Brisbane will be
home to Australia's
biggest arts festival from 2009 with the Brisbane Festival and RiverFestival
merging into one festival called Brisbane Festival. Brisbane Festival 2009 will be held from 12 September to 3 October, with QBE
Riverfire on Saturday 12 September.
There will be three weeks of non-stop entertainment including international and
Australian artists and productions, free world-class events, emerging fringe
theatre, held in theatres, parks and suburban streets.
2009 will be one of the most exciting years in Brisbane
as Brisbane Festival will be presented in its new annual format and coincide
with celebrations to mark the sesquicentenary of Brisbane
and Queensland's
foundations.
